I am such a geek.

I have always loved reading. I picked up the reading habit since primary school days, and it was all due to kiasu-ness. To encourage and instill the reading habit in students, the Ministry of Education came up with a book reading competition whereby students record down books that they have read in an exercise book (remember your buku no. 7, 5?). The student with the most number of records (read the most books) wins. I probably didn't win, since I don't have any recollection of that, but I know that I kept on going and going and going due to my Kiasu Chinese blood.

Thinking about it, I think the book reading competition was completely flawed. I mean, no one actually verified or 'audited' the authenticity of the records. I mean, I could have just cheated by recording down books that I didn't read. Loopholes. Tons of them everywhere.

My favourite reads when I was at that age were all those children books by Enid Blyton. Yes, remember her?? I had sooooo many books from her, Malory Towers, Mr. Pink Whistle, Amelia Jane... I remember this really THICK 3 in 1 book containing Mr. Pink Whistle's series. Mom bought them for me when I was in Standard 6, right before the utterly useless UPSR exam. Mom said that I could only read the book after the exams. Man... I remember the anticipation and yearning I felt before the exams, and the satisfaction as I unwrapped the book after my last UPSR paper. I was in heaven.

And who can ever forget the Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal.. Hahahhahaha

Sighs. Cheap and affordable books were everywhere then...

Any how, I picked up Charles Dicken's classic 'Great Expectations' this morning as I was en route to the toilet. I have read it twice a few years ago, and seen the movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke (what a hottie!), and yet today I realised that I still don't know who left Pip with the great expectations.

Was it the crazy bride left at the altar? Or was it the convict whom Pip rescued at the beginning of the food?

I think I will reread the book.

Haven't read the latest Harry Potter release though.

Mix-up.

I just realised that I need to be at two places at the same time later this evening. Coincidentally, they are both pool trainings. I will be participating in the Accounting Firm Olympics (AFO) as well as the annual Dewar's pool tournament. Both will be team events, so I hope I will be able to contribute to the victory of both teams.

Of course, it won't be easy, especially for the AFO, as the other firms are really giving us a lot of pressure regarding the organisation of the event (The firm I'm working at is this year's host). I have handed over the all 'important' event organising task to Edmund, as I really cannot stand how pathetic, underhanded and dirty the other firms are getting. What feichai said was right, it is the job of a ruthless person. And I'm just too damn weak.

My pool tournament will be this Saturday afternoon. Not much time left to train, and at the same time I will need to coordinate the placement of players during the tournament. Hope we don't get it wrong like what happened to snooker two weeks back. We only managed to get into the semi-finals.

Our target: To retain the championship.

I cannot fail. The team cannot fail. I wonder whether there is any hypnosis techniques to make us win. Or at least to make me feel less nervous during the tournament.

Expensive toilet bowl.

Gosh, so many things to do when renovating and decorating a house. I don't even know where to start!

Obviously, without monetary constraints things certainly can be done fast. I mean, solid timber flooring for the whole house? Go ahead. Ceiling to floor glass panels for the entire balcony? Who do I issue the cheque to?

But no, everything adds up. Every tiny thing. Hell, did you even know that a water closet (toilet bowl lah) costs a good few hundred bucks? We are talking about close to RM 1,000, and those are only the butt ugly functional ones! I only found out when I was shopping at Jusco Home Center last Saturday. What the hell? My rationale is this, EVERYONE needs a place to take a shit, hence the manufacturers are able to hike up the price.

I guess we'll still have to fork out the money for the 2 toilet bowls at home. Unless we want to resort to using tampui... aka 'chamber pot', normally used in olden days, and now more commonly used by babies. Not sure who's gonna empty the chamber pots tho....

Gross...

Nuffnang & Advertlets.

A bit disillusioned with the local web advertisement players, Nuffnang and Advertlets.

Let's try to do this a bit differently this time.

Scary dream...

I woke up this afternoon from the scariest dream ever. Well, it was scary to me.

The dream:-
The time was 1.45 pm, and I had a pool tournament at 2 pm. I called my teammate, Edmund to tell him that I will be late, and all he said was "I have already expected that you will be late."

Disappointment :(

I got my bf to drive me to the tournament venue, but he drove really slowly, and took the wrong way to the place. I was really agitated, really upset, but in the end he managed to get his dad to fly us there in a helicopter.

Finally reached there at 2.10 pm. The opponents were already there, and I could sense a lot of hostility.

Then I woke up. :( Thank God he came in and we cuddled for a while. Felt much better after him told me that everything is alright and will be alright.

I think I'm just too damn high strung about the pool tournament this Saturday. Have to win, have to win, have to win. The pressure is just too high.

The ultimate search for templates

Trying out new templates now. Sighs. It's not easy to find a template that I like. Maybe I should just customise them as before.... but am looking for a 3 column one...
